Following a lengthy hibernation, intense song writing, rehearsing and recording, plus a couple of haircuts and new bass player, we're back with an unashamedly pop fuelled debut album…
Check out some tracks here or visit www.myspace.com/themusgraves
Two very nice women came to see and hear us at Bush Studios in London yesterday. First was Sarah Stennett of Crown Management who is working alongside our management team to get things moving a little quicker. The second was a woman called Annie from Island Records who really seemed to like what she heard, finally somebody gets it!
We've had a load of ups and downs with A&R over the last two months and it seems that we're not 'cool' enough for most of them. With no synths or electric guitars on board they don't get it!
Virgin are still showing a lot of interest and we've heard that the re-structturing issues that we're holding things back are now sorted so things might start moving again.
We were featured on the Crazed Hits A&R site http://www.crazedhits.com/the-musgraves/ ,got loads of mysapce hits on the back of that and interest from a number of publishers in America!
We'll try and keep you updated xx
We're recording at Kore Studios in London at the mo, all very exciting. Got some new songs that our management and productions company really like so we're putting them down!
We'll post the finished mixes here once they're done...
Our track So Sofia was RECORD OF THE WEEK on the BBC 6Music Weekend Breakfast Show at the weekend (3-4 Jan), check it out here...

Got a lot of interested in the band right now. Did a few showcases in London before Christmas and things are progressing well. Been asked to play a couple more this month too! Fingers crossed we'll be able to tell you more by the end of the month!

We found this whilst "googling" The Matthew Bennett Band: "With 2008 rolling in many artists and bands are certain to do well... Adele, Duffy, The Courteneers, Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, Foals, Black Kids, The Ting Tings etc etc... The list goes on and yes, I love them all. But what about those who will be discovered by the masses in 2008? Look out for Peggy Sue and the Pirates (lovely ladies with a great rockabilly/punk/pop sound), The Matthew Bennett Band (wholly unoriginal name but a wicked pop/punk/folk sound with some lovely ballady type 'classics in the making' thrown into the mix - tipped by BBC 6Music's Tom Robinson), Natalie Wood (only heard the demos but this girl has a rough, raw, Mary J Blige type voice and an immense songwriting talent), and then there's The Headliners (infectious indie guitar band with great beats)".So there you go, now check them out... www.myspace.com/peggysueandthepirates www.myspace.com/thematthewbennettband www.myspace.com/phatnatmusic myspace.com/theheadlinersuk The Pulse |
